You may have heard the recent news of ExPetr/Petya/NotPetya ransomware attacks targeting large companies worldwide.

The Kaspersky Lab analysis suggests ExPetr is a type of encryption malware. As Kaspersky Lab researchers have recently discovered, ExPetr is built in a way that means it is completely impossible to decrypt files, even if the ransom is payed.

The good news is that, in most cases to date, Kaspersky Lab proactively detected the initial infection vector through its behavioral engine, System Watcher. We are also working on behavioral anti-ransomware detection improvement to proactively detect any possible future versions. Meaning, as a user of our cybersecurity solutions, you are protected against ExPetr/Petya/NotPetya.
